The Legend of the Benevolent Shepherd
Once upon a time, in a small quaint town lived a man named Ben. An unassuming man, Ben lived an ordinary life rearing sheep on a farm that had been passed down through his family for three generations.
He was liked by his neighbors and respected by the people of the town for his honesty and dedication. However, life took a bitter turn when a prolonged drought hit the town, adversely affecting the livestock and crops, leaving Ben in a profound crisis. Unable to tend to his sheep due to scarcity of fodder, his concern grew every passing day.
One winter night, while Ben was deep in his thoughts, pondering over the predicament, an illuminated figure appeared in his room. With radiance emanating from its body, the figure seemed celestial. Ben was terrified, but the figure reassured him. The figure introduced itself as Glorien, the spirit of benevolence. Glorien offered Ben a bag that had seeds of an enchanted crop that would survive any severe conditions.
Overjoyed, Ben thanked Glorien profusely and immediately set upon sowing the seeds. Over the next few days, a thick lush of greenery spread across his barren farm. The crops were edible for both humans and animals alike, and Ben's farm became an oasis in the drought-hit town. His sheep thrived, and his predicament seemed to finally meet an end. Word of the miraculous farm spread like wildfire across the region, and people flocked from far and wide to witness the magic.
Ben, with his kind heart, started sharing the seeds, helping others to revive their own lives from the clutches of the harsh drought. Unsurprisingly, his act of kindness didn't sit well with some people, especially with a wealthy merchant named Egor. Egor, a cunning and greedy man, had been taking advantage of the drought by selling food and water at skyrocketing prices. With Ben's miraculous farm, his lucrative business started dwindling.
One day, Egor came up with a plot and accused Ben of black magic. The simple townsfolk, out of fear and superstition, turned against Ben and his farm was set ablaze. Desperate and devastated, Ben called upon Glorien for help.
Glorien reappeared and with a wave extinguished the flames. He turned the blackened farm back into a green paradise under the watchful eyes of the townsfolk. Egor was taken aback. The townspeople were astounded and immediately regretted their actions.
In the face of such a miracle, Egor's true colors were revealed and his manipulation came to light. Ashamed and guilt-ridden, the townsfolk apologised to Ben and turned against Egor, chasing him out of the town. Glorien, happy with Ben's pure heart and generosity, vanished, promising to return if ever in need. Ben continued to live his life, helping others, and his farm thrived, becoming a beacon of hope and prosperity for everyone around.
And so, Ben’s tale became a legend that people told their children and grandchildren. And his farm? Well, it served as a living testament to the power of good over greed, of kindness amid adversity. The tale of a shepherd, who saved his town with a little help from a celestial spirit, continues to inspire people, reminding them always to choose the path of honesty and generosity, regardless of the circumstances.
